The Town of Greene Clerk's office at 51 Genesee Street, P.O. Box 129, Greene, NY 13778 is one option for getting a marriage license in the county. Contact: (607) 656-4191 ext. 215. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Marriage licenses are issued Monday through Thursday until 3:00 p.m. and Friday until 11:00 a.m. Under DRL Section 13, both partners must show up in person with photo ID, birth certificates, and proof of how any prior marriages ended. The fee is $40.
After the clerk issues the license, a 24-hour waiting period starts per DRL Section 13-b. Then the license is good for 60 days. You can get married anywhere in New York State with a Greene County marriage license.
